Writing

I came to script writing through directing and devising - I needed scripts to support the work I was doing with a particular group of collaborators. Initially scripts were born out of the devising process; rehearsals and improvisations were taped and then written out verbatim around a skeletal plot outline. I then started to write whole plays outside the rehearsal room and modify them with actors and collaborators in rehearsal in order to create a more integrated performance.
