Overview
The Glory of
Bankside (The Globe) has become a huge part of my life, New Zealand
seems more like a dream than ever. I work in Southwark with a huge
variety of young people from 4 to 16 leading drama workshops that
use Shakespeare's work as a starting point to enthuse, inspire and
empower them, I also work at the Globe running a series of workshops
for young people and directing them in scenes for the Globe stage.
Triangle
- Coventry Kidz in the Blitz - Museum Theatre
This November
I'll be working on a total immersion theatre experience with Triangle
Theatre in Coventry. Their pioneering Heritage Theatre Project
"The
Whissle and Williams Home Front Training Camp" for year
9 pupils looks at what it was like to be a child during the second
world war in Coventry.
Mike
Alfreds Masterclass - Jerwood Space/Young Vic/Living Theatre
My
second "Director's Act" week with Living Theatre - I spent
a week at the Jerwood Space working on The Cherry Orchard
with Mike Alfreds and twelve other directors. It was a truly inspiring
week - Mike has been developing his process over 30 years and he
works on creating a framework for the play within which the actors
have a great deal of freedom and creative input.
The
Playground
I
completed a working draft of this play, which examines the nature
of bullying, hierarchy and the abuse of power through a group of
12 year olds in a comprehensive school in South East England. I
am currently looking for producers.
